Chicago Highlands Club offers a unique golf experience.  We are happy to welcome you and know that your round will be most enjoyable if you follow these Chicago Highlands Club traditions, customs and rules.

Pace of Play

-PLEASE PLAY WITHOUT DELAY-

Robert T. Jones, Jr. had a philosophy that would make the game more enjoyable for everyone.  “My method in golf was simple and rapid.  I walked up to the ball and socked it.  And on the green, I did not squat and line up my putts; I walked up to the ball and knocked it at the hole.”

-          It is the duty of every golfer to keep up with the game in front and not just ahead of the game behind.

-          Four Ball matches playing 18 holes should take 4 hours or less, and never more than 4 1/2 hours.

-          Golfers who play slowly should stand aside and signal faster players to play through- golfers riding in cars should pace themselves so as not to place unreasonable pressure on walking players ahead.

Dress

-          Proper attire for men and ladies is required at all times.

-          Golf Shirts and Mock Collared Golf shirts are acceptable.

-          Ladies must have either a collar or sleeves.

-          Golf shorts/Bermuda shorts of an appropriate and tasteful length are acceptable.

-          Hats need to be worn with the bill facing forwards.

-          Men need to tuck in their shirts at all times.  Ladies may wear shirts un-tucked if the style of the shirt is designed in that manner.

-          Hats may not be worn inside the clubhouse.

Employees

-          Employees are an integral part of the Chicago Highlands Club family and they should be treated with dignity and respect.

-          Employees do not make the rules, but are required by the owners to see that they are respected.

-          Chicago Highlands Club has a no tipping policy, except for caddies.

Caddies

Chicago Highlands Club is dedicated to maintaining a strong caddie program.  The Caddie program follows the model set forth by the Western Golf Association and The Evans Scholarship Foundation.

-          Members and guests are encouraged to use caddies whenever they are available.

-          Caddies should be treated with the same dignity and respect afforded to our members, guests and Club employees.

-          Caddies should be tipped in accordance with job performance.

-          Caddies Rates (not including gratuity). Single loop- $35 per bag, Forecaddie- $35 per cart.

Care of the Course

Every member of the club and his or her guests has the responsibility of taking care of our golf course.  Please:

-          Repair ball marks on the greens.

-          Replace divots.

-          Rake Bunkers.

-          Do not drive golf cars in the “extreme rough/fescue”, within 50 feet of any green or 25 feet of any tee, on the practice area or on newly sodded or seeded areas.

-          Deposit smoking materials and other litter in containers on every tee.

Miscellaneous

-          Cell phone or electronic device is permitted.  However, ringers need to be placed in vibrate or silent mode; and calls need to be taken or made with discretion.

-          No smoking is allowed in the Golf Shop and/or Clubhouse.

-          Members should notify the Golf Shop of all guests and should be on hand to greet them.
